GENERAL RULES

  • Only permanently enrolled students of the college can enter the college campus.
  • Students must reach the college before 8:45 a.m. Gate will be closed at 8:45 a.m. and no student shall be allowed to enter the college afterwards.
  • Students shall come in complete and proper uniform as mentioned in the Hand Book.
  • Boys will keep their shirts inside the trousers tied with the belt. Low waist or narrow bottom & short length pants are strictly not allowed.
  • Students must have their identity cards with them while they are in the campus.
  • Students should stay in the college up to 2:15 p.m.
  • Once the teacher reaches the classroom students shall not be allowed to enter or leave the classroom without permission.
  • Students who are absent in their theory classes shall not be allowed to attend the practical.
  • Students should bring with them complete articles of requirements for the practical.
  • Students should treat college property with great care & consideration. They shall not make marks on furniture or on the walls. Due disciplinary action will be taken against those causing damage or destruction to college property.
  • Use of Chewing gum, tobacco, pan masala, pan & smoking are strictly prohibited in the college premises. Students found guilty will be duly punished.
  • Spitting, littering paper and waste materials or making college premises dirty is forbidden and punishable with fine.
  • Keeping with oneself any type of weapons or bringing them to the college is strictly prohibited.
  • Students are forbidden to organize or attend any meeting within the college or collect money for any purpose or to circulate among the students any notice or petition of any kind or paste it on the college notice board without the written permission of the principal.
  • Active participation in politics is not compatible with academic life of students, and students are not expected to indulge in public activities which are of a political nature.
  • Students are not allowed to make complaints in a body or present any collective petition, but they are welcome to present their case, if any, either individually or through their proper representatives to the principal.
  • No students shall be absent himself/herself from class/classes/labs without the prior permission of the concerned teacher and principal.
  • Students can take tea/break-fast/lunch only in lunch break or during free periods.
  • Students should maintain a sense of decorum and discipline at all times, both inside and outside the college. Those who are guilty of serious misconduct or whose presence in the college is detrimental to the order and discipline in the campus are liable to be expelled.
  • Any crowding on the road in front of the college or at the entrance of the college creates a bad impression on passerby and therefore such gatherings must be avoided.
  • Students are advised to do their office work only during the break times.
  • No student shall be allowed to bring vehicle without Driving Licence, Registration Slip and insurance. Helmet and other safety measures are mandatory.
  • Speed of vehicle in the college campus shall not be more than 10km/hr. Horns shall not be sounded in the campus.
  • For the security point of view students can bring mobile phone in the college but they shall keep it in switched off mode.
  • In exceptional cases, Mobile phone can be used in college campus with prior written permission of Principal or chief proctor or respective head of the departments. It can be used for important academic/project work with permission & the respective faculty.
  • Unauthorized use of mobile phone, taking selfie, photos and making videos, using social media in the college campus is strictly forbidden. Violation of this will cause confiscation of the set.
  • Ragging is a criminal offence and totally prohibited in the college(Supreme Court Order: SPL No. 24295/2006 dated 16.5.2007 and Civil Appeal No. 887/2009).
  • Ragging: We understand ragging as “any conduct whether by words spoken or by an act which has the effect of teasing, treating or handling with rudeness any other student, indulging in rowdy or indisciplined activities which causes or are likely to cause annoyance, hardship or psychological harm or to raise fear or apprehension thereof in a fresher or a junior student or asking the students to do any act or perform something which such student will not in the ordinary course and which has the effect of causing or generating a sense of shame or embarrassment so as to adversely affect the physique or psyche of a fresher or a junior student”.
    Punishment for Ragging
    1. Cancellation of admission.
    2. Suspension from attending classes.
    3. Withholding/withdrawing of scholarship/fee concession and other benefits.
    4. Being debarred from sitting in any test/examination or other evaluation process.
    5. Being debarred from representing the college in any test, sports or other such events.
    6. Suspension and expulsion from the hostel.
    7. Rustication from the college for a period up to four months.
    8. Expulsion from the college.
    9. In the case of offences of very serious/grievous nature, referring the case to the police, in addition to any other punishment.
    10. The decision of the anti-ragging committee shall be final with regard to any complaints received.
  • No material should be attached or pasted to any of the walls, surfaces, doors, floors, or surroundings within and or outside the presentation halls. Decoration and publicity materials cannot be placed anywhere in the college or the campus without the explicit permission of the Principal. The students shall place or attach charts, posters, and other study materials only at the place provided for such purposes. Any student who sends by any means of a computer resource any information that is grossly offensive or has a menacing character; or any information which he knows to be false, but for the purpose of causing annoyance, inconvenience, danger, obstruction, insult shall be punishable with appropriate disciplinary action including suspension or dismissal.
  • Any student who commits an offense against the Information and Technology Act 2000 and the subsequent amendments to the act or become a party either directly or indirectly for such offenses shall be punishable with disciplinary actions including suspensions and dismissal.
  • The principal has the authority to cancel the admission of a student or to prevent a student from appearing for university exams if:
    1. She/he has not deposited the fees.
    2. He/she is not following the rules and regulations of the college.
    3. He/she is found guilty in any serious case inside/outside the college.
    4. Students who are not permitted to appear in university exams will not be admitted in the college.
  • Issuing of transfer certificate and conduct certificate
    1. The students who apply for transfer certificate and other documents shall apply in writing to the principal.
    2. The certificates will be issued only after due process and verifications and shall take a minimum of three days before the issue of the certificates.
  • Parents and Guardian should pay attention
    1. For the perusal of the general regulations, parents and guardians will see that those who are admitted to the college maintain a fairly high standard of diligence and good conduct.
    2. It is presumed that those who send their children or wards to the college for their education accept all rules and regulations of the college.
    3. Parents and guardians are recommended to meet principal at least once in three months to know from him what have been the conduct and the progress of the student under his charge.
    4. Parents and guardians should meet the principal whenever they are asked to do so.
  • Rules for the Visitors
    1. Guests and visitors are most welcome in Sacred Heart Degree College. But the administration expects them to follow the regulations of the college for the convenience of the college and visitors:
    2. Visitors shall enter the particulars in the visitors' register.
    3. Visitors shall inform the peon whom he wants to meet.
    4. Visitors shall wait in the visitor's room.
    5. Visitors are not permitted to enter the office, classes, canteen, and college ground in any case.
    6. The students shall take the permission from the teacher concerned and the principal before meeting the visitors.
    7. Students shall not come out of the class during class time. He/she can meet the visitors only in break or lunch hours.
    8. Nobody is allowed to take their ward with him/her during college hours.
    9. Permission for half day leave can be granted only in appropriate cases of emergency.
