Coordination & Human Resource
A sports committee under the leadership of a coordinator guides the sports activities for an academic year.
The committee provides the list of requirements towards February of the year, for the forthcoming academic
year. The management committee scrutinises and makes an allocation for the same, based on which
procurements as per standard practices are made.
The Coordinator or his/her proxy shall have the custody of the college pool of equipment and shall maintain an
inventory and an issue register.
The college shall strive to have a full-time professionally trained person for guiding fitness and sports on the
campus.
The participatory framework to include students at all possible levels shall be adopted to instill in them the
values of accountability and adaptability, while promoting leadership as well. The house animators, college
captain(s) and the house captains shall be included in the coordination process to the extent possible.
Time:
The morning hours, as a norm, are not to be used for games, unless otherwise permitted. Especially with the
pre-recess session of the 3 first periods. Consider this as sacred time to converse with texts, books and other
reading materials.
Usually, 1 hour a week is set apart for all departments for games. Free hours, other than the morning sacred
hours, may be utilised for games, abiding by general guidelines and college discipline. The games should be
played in such a way as to cause no disturbance to the regular college activities and without causing anyone
harm.
Exceptions, if required be sought from the higher authorities – Principal or Vice Principal or Chief Proctor
(based on the availability on the campus).
Place:
Normally, other than basket ball or jogging or Yoga practice – no other game is permitted in the
basket ball court.
Main grounds: Football, cricket, volley ball, athletics practice.
If there is any issue of one game clashing with the other, sports committee coordinator or College
Senior Authorities be approached for resolving the matter.
The quadrangle of Science block may be used for badminton – however, not disturbing the conduct
of classes.
Indoor court (Elias Block) under supervision only – table tennis, carroms and other games and gym.
Equipment
For team games, the minimum required equipment would be provided by the college on the basis of a pre
approved budget. Whatever goes beyond the budget, has to be secured by those interested in pursuing the
games.
For individual focussed games – badminton, table tennis etc. – the equipment has to be owned by the players.
For some initial coaching, some equipment may be provided by the college.
Within the pre-approved budget consumables like shuttle-cock and table-tennis ball, and the nets will be
provided by the institution.
However, regular players are advised to have their own equipment so as to have their practice without any
glitches.
Recognition & Promotion
Any achievement in sports and games organised at the district level officially, or those the committee finds to
be an achievement at par with a district-level achievement (winner or first runner-up position), shall be
awarded with special recognition, and preferably, a cash award as per the budgetary provisions. Alternatively,
such achievements may be recognized with special mention at the annual sports day or annual day, as the case
may be, and a prize equivalent to a college level first or second position may be awarded to them. Such
achievements shall be recognized on the college website, social media handles and annual college report.
